Horror in Mt Horeb is the fourth of a series of books set in small towns in Wisconsin that she and her husband visited before his death in 2023. He was the impetus in encouraging her to write for publication. His own book, a series of meditations, was already in publication as Gifting Reflections. Margaret has been writing in numerous ways for a long time. She still has a collection of her early writings from her high school years as well as from her TCU honors English classes. Writing took a backseat when she decided to become a nurse and joined the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. During her three years of service, she taught corpsmen going to Vietnam and wrote classroom presentations. She gained her education to become a certified teacher graduating from UNT with her ATTD.
Since that time, she has written a variety of genres—classroom lesson plans both for University of North Texas as well as for the State of Texas. Health Science classes were her main focus. Being the wife of a minister and the moving that comes with ministry, she has enjoyed a variety of professional jobs—Lamaze teacher for Houston Organization for Psychoprophylaxis, teaching for a doctor in Denison, Texas, working as a nurse for Mental Health Mental Retardation of Texas, school nurse, and teaching Health Occupations for Abilene ISD. Along with all that she had a highly active role in her husbands ministry and rearing two great sons. Retirement happened just shortly before moving from Texas to Wisconsin. She now lives in a vibrant senior living facility in Madison, WI and has enjoyed getting back to writing mysteries.
Margaret Salisbury’s love for storytelling began as a young reader captivated by tales of mystery and adventure. Growing up, she found inspiration in the works of Agatha Christie and Alfred Hitchcock, cultivating a lifelong fascination with suspense and intrigue. This passion eventually blossomed into her career as an author, where she brought her unique voice to the mystery genre.
Margaret’s books often explore the darker corners of human nature, peeling back the layers of seemingly ordinary lives to reveal secrets, lies, and unexpected connections. With a talent for crafting complex characters and vividly atmospheric settings, she transports readers to small towns filled with tension, suspense, and the thrill of the unknown.
When Margaret is not busy writing her next mystery, she enjoys traveling, exploring historic sites, and reading everything from classic literature to contemporary thrillers. Her experiences and interests often find their way into her stories, adding depth and authenticity to her work.
Margaret lives with her family in a cozy home surrounded by books, where she continues to dream up stories that entertain and enthrall her.
